Traveling north along the west coast of Portugal, we happened upon the interesting small city of Aveiro. It is sometimes referred to as the "Venice of Portugal" because of its canals. After finding free parking for our motorhome, we explored on foot for a bit to get our bearings. Then we took a canal cruise and enjoyed the views from the water.

We found the tiled buildings especially beautiful. And the tour guide impressed us by easily switching from Portuguese to Spanish, Italian, and English. Such a wonderful day learning about Portugal in an unexpected and delightful way!
