Welcome to my blog and thank you for visiting! I am a new author; my first book was published last summer. It's called Ramblings & Roundabouts: An American Couple's Travels in Europe-Mostly by Motorhome, which you can learn more about on the other pages of this website. In this blog, I plan to provide glimpses of our trip in Europe to give you a taste of my book's content. I will include some photos and details that are not necessarily included in my book. I also plan to give you updates on new projects. Stay tuned . . .

In the meantime, these first few posts are about one of our favorite European countries - Portugal!

During the week overlapping the New Year of 2020, my husband Brian and I took a break from motorhome camping and stayed at a resort in Albufeira, Portugal. Our son Daniel and our daughter Lizzie met us there, and we had a refreshing visit with them. After many months on the road, I was thrilled to have family with us for the holiday.

During our week exploring the Algarve region of Portugal with the kids, we spent a day enjoying the city of Faro, which is a 40 minute drive east of Albufeira. Faro was once a Moorish walled stronghold and capital city. After walking around the old town, we stopped at an open-air restaurant for lunch. The charcuterie board featured mackerel, octopus salad, pork cheek, goat cheese with honey and almonds. White wine made a perfect accompaniment. Delicious!

After lunch, we walked along the waterfront of Ria Formosa - a network of river, delta, and barrier islands. A relaxing way to conclude our outing.
