The town and university by the same name--Oxford--both feature beautiful architecture. We stayed at a nearby Camping and Caravanning Club camping park, where we caught a bus into the old town.

We took a free guided walking tour, a good portion of which involved Oxford University. It was a cold winter's day, but we learned much including interesting information about how higher education operates in England.

Located in the heart of Oxford, the building above is called the Radcliffe Camera and houses a science library. The word camera comes from the Latin word for room.

The Bridge of Sighs on Oxford's campus: a precursor to modern skybridges to avoid the cold and damp, I expect.

The University Church of St. Mary the Virgin is an Anglican church and one of the first buildings of Oxford University. The tower was built in the 13th century.

We finished our day with a drink at this famous meeting spot of the Inklings, a literary group that included J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, and others. We were surprised at the depth and narrowness of this pub. The Eagle and Child is also known as the Bird and Baby. A chilly but delightful day!
