Seville was a must-see partly because one of our sons studied there for a year during college. What a beautiful city with such a wide array of architecture. The first photo illustrates this variety with the modern skyscraper in the background and the Adriatic Building, an example of Moorish Revival design, in the foreground. The second photo is of the Torro del Oro, or 'tower of gold' in English. It is a twelve-sided (dodecagonal) watchtower that was part of the city wall. Built in the twelve century, it was used to control access to the Guadalquivir River. Our first tourist activity in Seville was to take a boat tour on the river, which gave us a good overview of the city. A great way to start our three days of sightseeing!
The balcony pictured below with its ferns and open window caught my eye as we walked down one of Seville's many narrow, cobble-stoned streets. Sometimes the best photos can be taken simply by looking up. It's a good way to avoid traffic or pedestrians you may not want in your picture.
