On our way from southern Portugal to Seville, Spain, we camped near a nature reserve. It was pouring rain when we arrived and continued to rain all night. Our campsite, or pitch as they are called in Europe, was anywhere we chose in a sand and dirt parking lot where the ground was already getting quite saturated. We thought we'd stay just one night and move on to Seville the next day.

By morning, about one-third of the parking lot was under water. It's a good thing Brian chose the highest spot, which was closest to the single electrical box. The sun started to come out, and then Brian discovered the lavenderia (laundry room). It featured one top-loading washer and dryer set, much like those at home. And the prices were reasonable: 3 euros per wash and 2 euros per dry. No one else seemed interested in using them that day. So, change of plan! Brian arranged for us to stay a second night. I spent the day doing five loads of laundry, which included our throw rugs. The day remained sunny. Picking my way around puddles while going back and forth between the motorhome and the lavanderia was worth the effort to get all caught up with clean clothes. We left the following day well prepared for sightseeing at our next stop - Seville.
