We stayed at the Upwood Holiday Park, which lies in the distance in the photo below. This camping park offers sweeping views of the Black Moor and surrounding area. Besides spacious and warm shower blocks, the camping park also features a restaurant and pub onsite.

Many hiking trails can be accessed directly from the park. At the end of the driveway, the public bus can be caught to local towns and villages.

The trail we took led us to this old stone wall. Its disrepair made me think that it must no longer be needed to keep livestock corralled.

The wall's stones are becoming overgrown by the turf.

A moor is not complete without a bog . . . and sure enough, we stumbled upon one. The cold wind required hats and gloves.

Brian stands in a sea of dry and dormant heather. This did not surprise us as our visit landed in mid-autumn. I did find one small, pink, blooming heather plant. Made me wonder how beautiful the Black Moor must look when all the heather is in full bloom.
